Robin Eckert MD is an Assistant Clinical Professor with the Dept. of Family Medicine at U.C. Irvine Medical Center, and She is Founder and Medical Director of the Laguna Center for Integrative Medicine.

In addition Dr. Eckert is a UCLA trained Medical Acupuncturist who practices Integrative Medicine and Acupuncture in a private practice in Laguna Beach, California.

Since 2003, Dr. Eckert has been an Advisory Board Member of the Susan Samueli Center for Integrative Medicine at U.C. Irvine.

She graduated in 1997 from UC Irvine School of Medicine as a Regents Scholar, and subsequently completed her residency training with the Department of Family Medicine at UC Irvine.

Since 2001, Dr. Eckert has participated in teaching clinical electives in Integrative Medicine with a focus on Oriental Medicine and Medical Acupuncture, as well Patient-Doctor communication courses for 1st and 2nd year Medical Students.

Her undergraduate degrees are in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from UC Santa Cruz.

Prior to matriculation at UCI, she spent several years participating in research with the Dept of Gastroenterology at Stanford University, Nasa/Ames Research Center and at Genentech, Inc. in San Francisco.

Dr. Eckert has been interested in Integrative Medicine since the late 1970's when she was personally challenged with Fibromyalgia Syndrome which has been in remission for decades until very recently. Currently, She manages her FMS with Complementary and Functional Medicine techniques.

Dr. Eckert is also an expert in contemplative practices, and Mind-Body Medicine, with 39 years of experience with Meditation. She teaches Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Yoga and Meditation to the community through UCI Extension and in the past has taught MBSR at the Orange County Zen Center.
